The Second Amendment is only one sentence long, but what a powerful message it carries.
“A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.”
The 4-time world champion race boat formerly known as Zipp Express, now proudly carries this message as the “2nd Amendment” offshore race boat. This 36′ Catamaran manufactured by Spectre Powerboats is powered by two 500-horsepower Mercruiser engines which deliver 1000 horsepower to the twin drives. A powerful messenger for a powerful message.
The “2nd Amendment” message is not a political statement. The 2nd Amendment offshore race team is not a political interest group. We are a race team who has combined our love for offshore powerboat racing with our belief in the values and principles which built this county.
The message carried by the 2nd Amendment race boat is to remind us that the Second Amendment is a right given to Americans by the U.S. Constitution, which is the foundation of the values and principles which built this country. If these rights are questioned, we question our history. These freedoms and rights are made even more important by the fact that so many have paid the ultimate price to uphold and protect the Constitution.
The 2nd Amendment race boat is not a call to arms or a statement saying you should go buy or own a gun. The owners and sponsors just want people to be aware of their rights, as they are afforded to them by the U.S. Constitution. People should consider the consequences of questioning or taking away these rights.
The name change from Zipp Express to 2nd Amendment came early in 2013. This patriotically themed race boat immediately began drawing attention as it made appearances at races, gun shows and parades.
2nd Amendment team would like to use its success to share the message about the Bill of Rights guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution. These rights are brought to mind every time someone sees the 2nd Amendment race boat and team at a race or traveling down the road. The boat and all its support equipment carry the message that “We the People…” have rights that need to be protected.
